I was whisked away a top a mountain overlooking a silent valley in the Spanish hills last week, with the prospect of sunshine, yoga and peace. Having recently encouraged the idea that my connection to nature should be a focus of inspiration for my artwork, I couldn’t have been happier with our secret location. An outdoor loo with the most impressive view, a sea of pinecones, intriguing insect sightings and perfect clear night skies. My compact camera had to step in for my ill-fated film SLR which sadly gave up the ghost but I think it did a pretty good job at capturing a place so beautiful.
It was not quite a holiday per se, but somewhere to retreat and re-connect with what is really important, those simple things that get swallowed up within cities that breed on want. Appreciating where we really belong and what we really need can put things into perspective and I suppose that is a huge part of the retreat experience, it’s not one to be missed.
