The Man and his Moon

I am in love with Leonid Tishkov‘s romantic series ‘Private Moon’ an art installation project based on the relationship between a man and his Moon. Tishkov describes the series as a, “visual poem, telling the story about a man who found the Moon and stayed with her for the rest of his life.” He has travelled far and wide to cast his majestic moonlight all over the world, each installation telling its own unique story…

In a recent interview Tishkov describes his own feelings on the Moon: “Each time the moon reveals more space to me. The moon is a shining point that brings people together from different countries, of different nationalities and cultures. And everyone who gets in its orbit does not forget it ever. It gives fairytale and poetry in our prosy and mercantile world.” I have always found the moon very intriguing, how nice to think of it as an object of unity..

There are endless photograph’s in this series and I cannot possibly pick a favourite. The Moon’s presence throughout the whole series is so enchanting, it’s eery light magically transforming each separate location, after looking at these images I feel like I have been on a journey, with the man and his Moon.
