Art: Papercut

I love to see a piece of paper come to life… I have always been fascinated with the amount of detail and precision that comes with producing any artwork out of paper. It just looks so fiddly, I just wouldn’t have the patience for it! Maybe that’s why I admire it so much..

Peter Callesen works exclusively with the stuff, the often overlooked media that is a plain white sheet of A4 paper. Callesen’s intricate figures are small and perfectly formed, a huge amount of time must be invested in making these figures so neat and precise.

I also love to see the cut shadows from which the figures are made. The left overs from production are piece’s of artwork in themselves, to have them included together with the figures really adds depth to Callesen’s work. For more info on Peter Callesen take a look at his website, here..
